Herbst Cattle

Overview

Herbst Cattle is an advanced farm management tool. The programme uses the power of a computer to record and organise complex information which accumulates during the life of an animal and presents it in an easy to read format. Once the information is entered it can be edited at any time.

The system keeps the information on tag numbers, weight, remedies entries, movements: purchases and sales, birth and deaths of every animal in the herd, and others. The data are up-to-date and at any moment the programme can provide you with the exact number of all animals in the herd, their origin and a full list of their characteristics.

There can be several users in the system with their own passwords. The administrator of the system can set privileges for every user, restricting and granting rights.

Herbst Cattle 3 provides you with several predefined lists (layouts). The most frequently used layout is Animals In Herd. The Movement Book is maintained (Purchased, Sold, Moved In/Off Herd animals). The Health book is available (Remedy layout). There are also lists that show you born on farm animals, dead animals, all animals. You can also construct your own layouts.

Features list:

• The possibility of tracing animal movements: full details on every event are recorded into the system.
• The programme allows to see the daily weight gain since birth, purchase or last weighing and judging by this estimate animal weight on a certain date.
• Weigh Wizard facilitates entering weighings into the system.
• Viewing of electronic version of Bovine Herd Register and making hard copy of the register that replicates the format set out in the book version of the on-farm register. Security Log can be printed out along with the register.
• Wide variety of reports that can be printed out: Animal Passport, Sold Animals, Purchased Animals, Dead Animals, and others.
• The reporting flexibility is particularly useful. There is a series of preset reports within the system but any information held on an animal record can be produced in report formats you can create yourself.
• Barcode Reader can be used for data capture, for example, for scanning tag numbers of the cattle into the system.
• Fully customisable layouts: the possibility to choose the columns to display, filters and sort orders to apply, grouping of rows, etc.
• Quick Edit - facility to edit quickly and easily a group of animals at once.
• The possibility to add Attachments and load a photo of an animal.
• AIM Herd Profile Comparison Wizard allows to compare the list of animals received from the Department Of Agriculture and Food web site with the list of animals stored in the database.
• Grain Feed Calculator and Cost & Quantity Calculator help optimize the feeding scheme.

In order to comply with the Department of Agriculture and Food Regulations, any amendments made to the Herd Register is recorded in the Security Log. Here you can see all actions whatever made on the animals. Every line describes actions on animal records (inserting, modifying). You can see user name, date and time, and properties of edited animals. Details describe every edited field.
